Curious Blue came together through a chancely destined meeting in early December 2010 and began to create their sound through a series of improvisations and "jams". Immediately sensing an alchemy, they began laying down tracks and working on their album. Working out of Charli Blue's recording studio in Venice, CA with his amazing gifts of mixing, producing and flavorful drumming combined with David "Space Pocket" Watts experimentation of beautiful melodic grooves and funky morsels, Onyay opens up for the romantic lyrics and sensual melodies to flow... each contributing their elements, essence and spice. Look for their debut album out December 2011. |

David Watts was born and raised in Los Angeles. He started playing trumpet at 10 years old and switched to upright and electric bass at 12. David was influenced by a wide range of music during his teen years, from rock to jazz, funk and R&B. Early on he adopted the attitude of Duke Ellington that there are only two types of music: good music and bad music. His first band was at age 13 and many more followed. David played live regularly in bands throughout the late 80's and the 90's in the local music scene. Since 2006 he has been playing a lot of kirtan in the yoga community to support the artists devoted to a spiritual connection with their music which continues to this day with Girish, Steve Gold, Saul David Raye, Jai Uttal, Terra Gold, Ena Vie, Marti Walker and Andres Salcedo to name a few. Deeply committed to the groove, David is continually exploring ways for the bass to be utilized in ways that are surprisingly fresh and simple as you’ll experience with Curious Blue. |
